Job Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU RN) Job Summary: The NICU Registered Nurse delivers expert, compassionate care to critically ill newborns in a Level II or III NICU. This RN coordinates nursing care based on the nursing process and clinical judgment, collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, and ensures a safe, healing environment for patients and families. This role also supervises and supports other nursing staff, providing leadership and mentoring while upholding hospital standards and values. Essential Functions: Collects and assesses data relevant to the neonate’s condition and developmental needs. Identifies diagnoses and care issues, then develops and implements individualized care plans. Administers medications, monitors vital signs, and performs interventions in a timely and safe manner. Evaluates outcomes and adjusts care plans accordingly. Educates and supports families during hospitalization and discharge planning. Participates in team-based care delivery and interdisciplinary rounding. Delegates and coordinates duties among assigned healthcare team members. Performs additional job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education & Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing – Required Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) – Preferred Acute care or neonatal experience – Preferred Licenses & Certifications (Required): Current RN license in the state of practice (California) Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association or equivalent Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Required Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS) – Required
