Job Description
Duties: Ensure the efficient structuring of the modules to be covered in the course. Ensuring that students are aware of the daily activities and general schedule Update lectures / training material on a regular basis with Head Trainer. Conduct learning according to the highest (FGASA) standards Implement Code of Conduct, always adhering to COCs Ensuring that the course syllabus is kept up to date, covers all statutory requirements to ensure the College is continually endorsed by FGASA Be creative with regards to training content and delivery. Be innovative in the methodology and strive to introduce new content Facilitate activities in the field via Game Drives, Walks, Trails and Field Observations Facilitating lectures, workshops, training, and team building Conduct all Apprentice Field Guide, Apprentice Trails Guide, Advanced Rifle Handling assessments according to FGASA and CATHSSETA standards Ensure to always be abreast of updates in industry, that would be valuable for students to learn. Conducting tests and FGASA assessments in line with the required standards and at the appropriate intervals Act as a role model within and outside the parameters of the College Offer guidance and support to students, adapting to different learning styles Ensure that student duties are fulfilled Adhere to CATHSSETA requirements for training providers (i.e., compile periodical student reports) Compile students score cards prior to them leaving the 6 months course Ensure that personal legalities are always up to date and records kept on central filing system (NDT, PrDP, First Aid, Assessors, ARH/SAN Park shooting) Keep walking logs according to requirements Ensuring that College campus always looks presentable Ensure that Lecture and storeroom equipment is stored with care and maintained in good working order Ensure that all breakages and required repairs are reported, and repairs are implemented without delay Assist with preventative maintenance and general maintenance where needed Managing daily checks via students so they are aware of basic vehicle maintenance. Reporting checklists to camp management at least on a weekly basis. Report faults that need immediate attention the same day. Checking vehicles once a week (including logistic vehicles). In liaison with Camp Management, ensuring that regular services are scheduled and effected. Keep record of maintenance via Job cards Ensuring that breakdowns are attended to within a reasonable time Ensuring that the vehicles are being driven sensibly and with care, by students and staff Company vehicles only to be used for company purposes. Keep rifles stored and maintained according to safety rules and regulations Ensure that rifle/ammo register is always kept updated Ensure that all safety and admin aspects are adhered to at the shooting range Ensure that enough ammunition and equipment in best working order is available for the ARH/Trails course modules Preparing students according to the expectations of the placement Property to ensure they are an asset to their teams Post pictures of game drive sightings, camp life, group pictures and any other pictures relevant to training on the WhatsApp Messenger group created for each intake Ensure that content for social media, including blogs, are submitted timeously Ensuring that the students exiting the college have the highest calibre of knowledge and skills Student study days and off days are not equivalent with trainer off days. This time will be used for research, social media, admin, updating lectures, town trips and other tasks beneficial to the College and its team Continuously working and striving towards being the number one Field Guide Training Institution Create a safe, happy and fun learning and living environment for students and staff Requirements: Grade 12 A minimum of 5 years experience in the bush working as a Field Guide (essential), experience as Senior Guide or Head Guide (advantageous) Grade 12 or equivalent (essential) Prior experience in training and facilitation (essential) FGASA NQF4 Trails Guide Qualification (essential) Drivers License & PRDP Current (essential) ARH Current (essential) First Aid Level 2 MS Office Suite Qualified Facilitator / FGASA Assessor (Advantageous) Range Officer (Advantageous)
