Job Description
About the Company: We aim to help students realise their potential in the world of work through technology, content, and tools. That’s not an easy thing. We believe in understanding students and partnering with employers, universities, schools, and other technology providers. It’s about students finding the right role and employers finding the most suitable candidates. But its more than that – it’s about helping young people discover options, develop, and build confidence. About the Team: We're a fast-growing recruitment business that lives and breathes early talent. Our clients range from scale-ups to FTSE 100s, and our candidate pool is made up of the UK’s most ambitious students, recent grads, and postgrads. We’ve built a reputation for placing the next generation of leaders — before anyone else sees them coming. About this Role: We’re looking for a Contingency Recruiter who can hit the ground running. You’ll be sourcing top early-career talent across the UK, building relationships with both candidates and clients, and closing roles with commercial precision. You’ll be backed by a marketing engine and platform, but the hustle and strategy are yours. Key Metrics: 5 successful candidate placements per month £10,000–£15,000 per month in billings CV-to-Interview ratio at least 3.1 80% of live candidates contacted respond or stay active in the process Outcomes: Develop and maintain strong relationships with candidates by thoroughly understanding their objectives and addressing their challenges. Conduct in-depth intake calls with each new candidate to understand their skills, experience and aspirations Follow up with relevant jobs and encourage them to create a video CV if necessary Keep them updated with progress for the roles you have submitted them to Source, engage, and convert top early-career candidates into quality placements. Use LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards, internal databases, and referrals to identify relevant candidates Craft standout outreach messages and job briefs that speak Gen Z’s language Pre-screen all candidates for motivation, soft skills, and culture fit — not just CV content Coach candidates through the process: prepping them for interviews, managing expectations, and closing with confidence Consistently deliver on contingency briefs, hitting monthly placement and revenue targets. Manage multiple live vacancies across sectors while maintaining a high standard of delivery Prioritise workload based on urgency, profitability, and client relationship strength Maintain accurate records in the ATS/CRM to track pipeline stages and candidate comms Raise red flags to clients or suggest alternative strategies if challenges arise Build a credible and high-impact candidate pipeline across multiple industries. Build segmented talent pools (e.g. “STEM grads open to finance” or “Marketing postgrads in London”) Keep candidates warm with regular check-ins, career tips, and updates on new roles Collaborate with marketing to produce content or campaigns that reflect market needs Person Specification: 2 years' experience in 180 contingency recruitment, specifically focused on sourcing relevant candidates, not sourcing clients. Strong commercial track record – consistently hitting targets and closing roles. Deep understanding of the UK student/graduate/postgrad talent market. Proven ability to manage multiple vacancies and clients at pace. Comfortable with candidate generation, headhunting, and market mapping. Excellent communication and negotiation skills — you’ve got gravitas and charm. Passion for young people and a belief in what they can offer the working world.
