Principal Artificial Intelligence Engineer

Best Buy- India is seeking a Principal AI Engineer- to play a key role in shaping enterprise Applied Machine Learning strategy- and be the resident expert for AI Engineering and AIOps. You will be deeply hands-on and play a key role in guiding top tier AI Engineers while embracing inclusive leadership behaviors, working through ambiguity, demonstrating strong attention to detail, and thriving in a fast-paced environment. As a Principal AI Engineer, you will be the resident AI Engineering & AIOps expert solving the most difficult engineering challenges encountered during design and development of cutting-edge AI solutions. In this role you will combine strategic thinking with your technical leadership skills, deep software engineering expertise and working knowledge of AI algorithms to lead technical efforts architecting, developing, and operationalizing models, algorithms, and production quality AI applications that unleash the next generation of customer experiences and transform the way Best Buy operates day-to-day. Team Overview : The Data and AI enablement teams are enabling capabilities to accelerate end to end data and AI adoption across Advanced Analytics, Product Teams, and Best Buy Sales and Operations Teams. The broader team is responsible for data strategy, availability, and adoption via self-service tools including AI model registry, activation of models for business, multichannel testing, customer relationship measurement. This team is committed to delivering the right data and AI solutions following the guidelines provided in our Responsible AI principles. This role is in Best Buy's Applied Machine Learning (AML) organization within the broader Data & AI enablement umbrella. AML is tasked with driving Best Buy's AI journey to enhance customer facing experiences, improve internal operations, and productivity. The team leverages the best of AI models and implementation techniques for critical business domains like next gen search, product reviews & recommendations, price forecasting, fraud detection, cybersecurity and more. Key Responsibilities : - Lead operationalization of large-scale AI solutions, being the resident expert for all AI Engineering and AIOps challenges, partnering closely with AI Scientists. - Lead by example, inspire and guide AI Engineers leveraging the best AIOps/MLOps techniques to activate AI solutions at enterprise scale, solving real business problems benefitting millions of Best Buy customers daily. - Deeply hands on, utilizing extensive knowledge of software engineering and AI to contribute to the roadmap of Best Buy's core AI capabilities. - Partner with global cross-functional teams including AI, data, platforms, products, analytics, business and compliance. - Comprehend complex technical and business problems in high pressure scenarios, connecting the larger enterprise goals to teams' tactical deliverables. Basic Requirements : - Master's degree or Ph. in a highly quantitative field (Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, Operations Research or related) OR equivalent relevant professional experience. - 8 years of deep, hands-on, experience building and operationalizing ML/AI products. - Advanced degrees in relevant fields may be counted towards experience requirements. Including : - 4 years of MLOps/AIOps experience, operationalizing real-time ML/AI models with ultra-low latency and high throughput, as resilient, scalable, cloud native services, with engineering excellence. - 4 years of experience leading end to end design reviews, code reviews, and deployment patterns for critical AI applications in one or more of- Gen AI, Supervised learning, Unsupervised Learning and Reinforcement Learning domains. - 4 years of hands-on experience on Google Cloud Platform, building and maintaining ML/AI solutions with production grade pipelines. - Expert level understanding of Python ecosystem and common AI/ML frameworks (LangChain,- TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Seldon-Core.). - Expert level, hands-on coding expertise in Python and SQL. - Expert level knowledge of MLOps/AIOps concepts and CI/CD pipelines. Preferred Requirements : - Multi-cloud and multi-region integration experience. - Relevant certifications. - Open-source contributions or robust GitHub portfolio.
