SQL Database Administration Lead

Job Title : SQL DBA Manager / Lead Company : Talent Worx Location : Hyderabad, Telangana, India Job Type : Full-time About The Role : Talent Worx is seeking an experienced and highly capable SQL DBA Manager / Lead to oversee the administration and management of critical SQL Server databases, primarily supporting banking operations. This role requires a seasoned professional with deep technical expertise in SQL Server administration, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage a team and handle escalations in a 24/7 environment. Your primary goal will be to ensure the high availability, consistent performance, robust security, and strict compliance of these vital banking databases. You will be responsible for managing all DBA functions, leading a team, interacting with vendors, and ensuring uninterrupted client satisfaction. Key Responsibilities : Team Leadership & Management : Lead, mentor, and manage a team of SQL Server Database Administrators, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring team members are equipped to handle their responsibilities effectively. Database Administration : Oversee and perform core SQL Server administration activities, including : - Installations and configurations of SQL Server instances. - Database creations and configuration based on requirements. - Implementing and managing robust Backup and Restoration strategies. - Managing connectivity configurations and troubleshooting related issues. - Ensuring and managing the security of SQL Servers, including user permissions, roles, and access controls. - Planning and executing maintenance activities such as Re-indexing and updating statistics. - Managing and resolving Database corruption Issues. - Proactively identifying and managing Performance Issues, implementing tuning strategies. High Availability & Disaster Recovery : Design, implement, and maintain High Availability (HA) solutions, including Log-shipping and Always-On Availability Groups. Technical Escalation Management : Manage and respond to technical escalations in a 24/7-365 days environment. Be able to analyze complex issues quickly and provide effective suggestions for solutions. Vendor Management : Manage relationships and interactions with vendors related to database software, support, or tools. Performance & Optimization : Utilize tools and techniques (including DMV's/DBCC commands) to monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies for queries, instances, and : Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to database connectivity, performance, locking and blocking, and other operational problems. Compliance & Integrity : Ensure that all DBA functions and database configurations adhere to strict security and compliance standards relevant to the banking sector. Work with a high level of integrity at the workplace. SLA Management : Ensure that Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for database availability and performance are consistently met. Communication & Collaboration : Maintain excellent English communication skills to effectively interact with the team, stakeholders, vendors, and clients. Client Satisfaction : Focus on ensuring uninterrupted client satisfaction through reliable database operations and effective support. Basic Development Support : Possess basic T-SQL knowledge to understand and assist with troubleshooting application-related database issues and SSIS/DTS packages. Architecture Understanding : Understand Clustering Architecture as it relates to SQL Server HA solutions. Required Skills and Experience : - Proven experience in a SQL Server DBA role, with demonstrated experience in a Lead or Managerial capacity. - Excellent knowledge of SQL Server RDBMS systems and architecture. - Hands-on experience with SQL Server Installations and configurations. - Expertise in implementing and managing Backup and Restoration strategies. - Strong experience in managing SQL Server security and access controls. - Proficient in database maintenance activities (Re-indexing, Update Statistics). - Experience managing and resolving DB corruption issues. - Proven experience in managing and optimizing SQL Server Performance Issues. - Hands-on experience implementing and managing SQL Server High Availability (HA) solutions, including Log-shipping and Always-On Availability Groups. - Basic knowledge of T-SQL for understanding and troubleshooting. - Familiarity with SSIS/DTS packages. - Experience utilizing DMV's/DBCC commands for monitoring and troubleshooting. - Understanding of Clustering Architecture as it relates to SQL Server. - Experience diagnosing and resolving Locking and Blocking Issues. - Ability to manage escalations and provide solutions in a 24/7 environment. - Good people management skills. - Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal). - Ability to work with a high level of integrity. Minimum Qualification : Graduation from a recognized university. Preferred Qualifications : - Relevant Microsoft SQL Server certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE : Data Management and Analytics). - Experience managing databases in a banking or financial services environment. - Experience with cloud database services (e.g., Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS for SQL Server). - Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and tools (e.g., ITIL, ServiceNow).
