Job Description & Requirements Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 9 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days, evenings, rotating Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse - Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Location: 900 23rd Street NW, Washington, DC 20037 Work Schedule: 3 x 12-hour shifts (AM/PM Rotation) Residency Requirement: Must live at least 100 miles away Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team. The ICU is a multidisciplinary unit that provides critical care to a diverse patient population, including neurological, neurosurgical, medical, surgical, pulmonary, cardiology, cardiothoracic, and trauma patients. Key Responsibilities: Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in accordance with established protocols and best practices. Monitor and assess patients using advanced medical equipment, including ventilators, cardiac monitors, arterial lines, central lines, pulmonary artery catheters, and more. Administer medications, fluids, and therapies as prescribed while ensuring adherence to safety protocols. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to develop and implement individualized patient care plans. Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care plans. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient conditions, interventions, and progress in the electronic medical record system (Cerner). Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Qualifications & Requirements: Licensure: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the District of Columbia (or eligibility to obtain). Certifications: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Required. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of ICU experience – Required. Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Cerner experience – Required. Education: Graduate of an accredited or National League for Nursing (NLN)-approved RN program – Required.
