Rail Grinder Fitter / Operator Location: Nationwide Mobile Fitter Salary: £41,486 to £49,899 plus £6,000 bonus (pro rata) Full bespoke training given - Experience isn't necessary Company phone provided - UK mobile Lodging and travel included Opportunities for candidates to be trained as train driversl Purpose of the Role To prepare the machine, assess the work requirement and to ensure the plan is achieved to meet the required specification whilst maintaining all health, safety and environmental safeguards, working to the VMI and operational manual. Person Specification SHEQ RESPONSIBILITIES Work to applicable Safety Plans and Method Statements. Comply with Section 7 of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 COMPETENCIES REQUIRED Recognised formal apprenticeship in Mechanical / Electrical engineering To have achieved the core competencies of Foundation Course, , Machine Setup and Pack away for Operation Grinding Railgrinding maintainer for Operations /Maintenance competence matrix. Driving Licence PTS Fire Training Emergency First Aid Depot /Yard Inductions Basic Laser Safety COSS Key Responsibilities Operating or maintaining the machine safely and effectively, as instructed by the Grinding or Maintenance Supervisor. 2nd man / fire watch duties on grinding operation Reporting any machine defects to Grinding or Maintenance Supervisor, where appropriate. Collating the data output from the machine where applicable. To work safely and effectively to Colas Rail Services Operations procedures.
