Garment Technician – Kidswear

Job Title: Garment Technician – Kidswear Location: On-site – South Delhi Job Type: Full-Time About the Role Makemake Organics is seeking a detail-oriented and quality-driven Garment Technologist to join our Product Design and Development team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that all garments are developed to the highest standard of fit, construction, and compliance, while staying true to our brand values of safety, sustainability, and comfort. Key Responsibilities 1. Technical Specification & Fit Development Develop and maintain detailed tech packs, including measurements, construction details, fabric specifications, and trims. Lead fit sessions for all garment categories and record clear, actionable comments and approvals. Collaborate with design to ensure aesthetic intent is preserved while ensuring practicality and functionality, especially for kidswear. Grade size sets and ensure consistency across styles and categories. 2. Sample Development & Approvals Manage all sample stages—Proto, Fit, SMS, PPS—ensuring quality, accuracy, and on-time delivery. Evaluate samples for fit, workmanship, compliance, and safety standards. Communicate fit and construction comments clearly to vendors and ensure timely revisions. 3. Quality & Compliance Standards Implement and uphold internal quality standards aligned with GOTS certification and safety regulations for children’s clothing. Conduct risk assessments for choking hazards, seam strength, shrinkage, and colorfastness. Liaise with factories to resolve technical and quality issues during pre-production and production phases. 4. Production & Vendor Coordination Work closely with the sourcing and production teams to ensure feasibility of design, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability. Provide on-ground technical support to vendors during production to maintain quality and consistency. Approve pre-production samples and coordinate bulk inspections, when needed. 5. Documentation & Reporting Maintain detailed records of fit comments, sample approvals, and testing reports. Track progress against seasonal calendars to ensure deadlines are met. Identify recurring issues and propose solutions to improve product quality and efficiency. Qualifications & Skills Experience: 3–5 years as a Garment Technologist or Technical Designer (experience in kidswear or organic textiles preferred). Education: Degree or diploma in Fashion Technology, Apparel Engineering, or a related field. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of pattern making, garment construction, fabric behavior, and size grading. Detail-Oriented: High attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset. Communication: Clear communicator with the ability to provide constructive feedback to both internal teams and vendors. Tools: Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Excel/Google Sheets, and PLM systems. Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with CPSIA, GOTS, and children’s safety regulations is a strong plus.
