Job Description
FORMAL EDUCATION: Grade 12 (NQF 4) Bachelor's degree or Diploma qualifications in ICT field will be an advantage EXPERIENCE: 5 7 years' experience in a network environment Understand the strategic composition of a world class network ICT company Understand customer current infrastructure and be able to relate the understanding into Network Engineering guidelines Ability to provide firm leadership to a disparate team of network specialists in terms of daily operations, configuration guidelines and fault finding Ability to present and articulate network related knowledge and topics to management and executive level audience Advanced ability to guide Network Specialists in complex 3rd level diagnostics and fault finding on all network technologies Solid experience in Arista DC-LAN network infrastructure Firm hands-on experience on live production networks Exposure and Solid Knowledge of Product-Specific Technologies related to Routing and Switching, Wireless LAN, DC LAN, Network Traffic Shaping, UC, VC and IPT TECHNICAL / LEGAL CERTIFICATION Fortinet NSE4 Certified Fortinet NSE7 Certified will be an advantage. CCIE certified and additional Cisco specialisations would be an advantage RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide Guidance to the company regarding market trends and strategic directions in terms of all ICT matters Conduct Research, advise and guide networking department in terms of new technologies, gearing to future proof network solutions Conceptualise Solutions and do detail low level engineering designs from high level solutions to enable network specialists to do the deployment for new solutions sold Interface with Pre-Sales to establish networking products, solutions and services that compete in a world class market Provide Guidance to the Networking department in terms of the technical application of networking skills Demonstrate strong network design and technical engineering Make recommendations for changes in the internal and client organisations use of the products and services supplied in order to increase the benefits the clients will ultimately obtain from Gijima, and help ensure client retention Constantly utilises technical engineering experience and skills to assess and advise on the practicality of alternatives, combining technical limitations with operational realities Guide the advanced high-level problem management process as defined by ITIL Provide guidance to establish mechanism of monitoring, event generation, ticket logging and reporting of incidents together with monitoring specialists Establish processes and procedures of the entire Networking department in conjunction with the team of network specialist Analyse draft solution proposals prior to submission to the customer to check for technical viability and fit for purpose solutions Where needs are recognised as falling outside ones own area of knowledge, identify a suitable solution offering Continuously ensure that technology is aligned to clients' needs and clients are educated in terms of the technology used KEY COMPETENCIES: Excellent communication skills and ability to impart knowledge and communicate complex information in a simple manner Quality management - Ensures quality service delivery in accordance with standards as communicated Ability to motivate, lead and supervise disparate individuals in different teams Research skills - Is able to collect and gather information in an efficient manner Time and priority management - Is able to plan work so that maximum efficiency is obtained Continuously structures work in an organised and effective manner Able to prioritise the workload in order of importance in an efficient and organised manner Delivering results and meeting customer expectations
