The Arthritis Foundation (AF) provides leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases. AF hopes to educate the public about the #1 cause of physical disability in the US and improve quality of life for people living with and affected by arthritis. Efforts are concentrated in the areas of research, public health and public policy.
More than 46 million people are doctor-diagnosed with some form of arthritis and over 1.1 million live within the Chapter's service area. Arthritis costs the US $128 billion each year and $32 billion is spent here in California in both lost wages and medical expenses. AF is a volunteer-driven national non-profit health organization that depends on the dedication, hard work and vision of staff, interns and volunteers.
