$44,941 to $58,428 per year

This vacancy announcement will be open from November 1, 2017 to November 7, 2017 or when 100 applications have been received. The vacancy will close on whichever day the first of these conditions are met. If the application limit is reached on the same day the announcement opened, the open and close date will be the same. The Pathways Internship Program targets students accepted for enrollment or currently enrolled in a qualifying educational program in an accredited institution, on a full or half-time basis with paid opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school. Applicants must meet the definition of "student" in order to be considered for this opportunity. Internship appointments under the Internship Experience Program (IEP) are non-temporary and can last the duration of the student's academic program. This will be determined at the time of selection. Interns may work full-time or part-time schedules.

At the successful conclusion of the program, interns may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to a Federal career or career-conditional position in the competitive service. Conversions to the competitive service are not guaranteed.

The Bureau of Intelligence and Research (INR) has four vacancies for Student Trainee (Office Automation) in the following offices: Office of Technical Collection Affairs (INR/TCA), Office of Analysis for Strategic Proliferation and Military Issues (INR/SPM), Office of Analysis for Russia and Eurasia (INR/REA), Office of Analysis for Africa (INR/AF).

INR is one of three all-source analytical units in the Intelligence Community (IC) and serves the U.S. Department of State. INR analysts focus primarily on supporting diplomats and diplomacy with a wide range of information and analyses. INR produces its own analysis and participates in the production of joint IC products, usually under the auspices of the National Intelligence Council (NIC), and in the drafting and coordinating of articles for the President’s Daily Briefing (PDB). INR coordinates efforts between the Department of State and the IC to ensure that intelligence activities—collection and operations—support and are informed by foreign policy. INR is also the U.S. Government (USG) leader for foreign public opinion research and analysis and provides U.S. policymakers and intelligence analysts with opportunities to benefit from a broad spectrum of private sector expertise, research, and analysis on current and emerging foreign policy and national security issues.

As an Office Automation Trainee, you will:

- Perform office automation duties using software applications such as electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database, and/or graphics to track Congressional correspondence.
- Maintain appointments and calendars, schedule appointments, coordinate meetings, and/or schedule conferences.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
