Job Description:

An unpaid position, The Atlantic’s Editorial internship offers college juniors, seniors, and recent graduates of all ages a unique opportunity to be involved in many aspects of an award-winning national magazine's editorial procedures.
Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing the thousands of unsolicited submissions the magazine receives each year.
• Fact-checking and research for the magazine.
• Contributing to TheAtlantic.com through the Current, Flashbacks, and blog research.
• Assisting the staff with assorted administrative tasks.
• Also, during each session, editors, writers, and members of the production and art departments give informal seminars for all Atlantic interns.

We have two intern sessions: Spring (January-June) and Fall (June-December). We have up to five interns per session. We are currently accepting applications for our spring internship. Please submit applications no later than October 13, 2008. Interns are unpaid. We are flexible regarding school and other part-time work requirements, but we expect interns to work 20-40 hours a week, on a consistent schedule. In addition, should your university allow it, we are happy to have students use the internship for college credit.
