Public Policy/Business Development Internships
Job Location: DC - Washington, DC, United States
Job Description:
Through the medium of public policy, One Economy strives to change state and federal housing policy, and to establish effective partnerships with technology companies and other nonprofit entities. Each intern can expect exposure to One Economy’s public policy efforts. Interns will be able to be part of a successful, growing nonprofit organization as we seek to establish networks and build coalitions to effectuate policy change. Based on each individual intern’s goals and interests, a semester spent at One Economy might include:
• Research on diverse areas such as federal telecommunications legislation, or state housing policy
• Implementation of short- and long-term projects designed by a senior officer to help the intern gain specific experience in his/her areas of interest and to further the mission of the organization
Interns will also be involved in the business development aspects One Economy’s work, which may involve:
• Business development research and strategy
• Drafting grant proposals and reports and working closely with staff members towards the submission of grant proposals
Interning at One Economy provides an excellent opportunity to make a contribution and to appreciate how a vibrant nonprofit organization conceives of and seeks to implement meaningful public policy changes, and secure funding to advance the organization’s mission and goals.
Job Requirements:
3.5 GPA, Excellent communication and research skills, familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Knowledge of ACT! and HTML a plus.
