Job Description:

New York City book publisher, production company, and literary agency has opening for bright, positive, talented book designers. We have a unique opportunity for the right candidate to join our team for either the fall 2008 or spring 2009 semesters.


Are you a creative, designer with a treasure trove of new, fresh ideas to bring to our variety of cutting edge illustrated and practical non-fiction books (including lifestyle, how-to, practical decorating, health, and others)? If you are, we’d like to meet you!


Intern will learn to:
* Collaborate with editorial staff in the development of book design
* Deliver high quality presentations and layouts of book interior
* Review and correct page proofs at several design and production stages
* Deliver meticulous work on time, every time, and error-free
* Lear to design approximately 10 titles per season from the LifeTime Media list, including covers and interiors

Job Requirements:

* Ease and familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Quark
* Strong communication skills, written and verbal, the ability to work effectively with a range of people, and take direction
* Ability to generate creative solutions under tight deadlines
* Ability to juggle multiple projects under varying deadlines
* College Senior or recent graduate preferred
* Degree in design or fine art
* Knowledge of printing process and production standards is a plus
