Programs Support Intern
Job Location: Colorado - Rocky Mountains - Vail, CO, United States
Job Description:
Each year SOS Outreach hires three interns to support its Colorado programs staff. These positions are designed for those seeking to gain experience in the field of nonprofit management and administration. Interns work approximately 30 hours per week from November through March with SOS staff to create and implement all programming.
SOS Outreach was founded in 1993 in Colorado’s Vail Valley. As a not-for-profit organization, we build character and self-esteem in youth through snowsports and the SOS curriculum.
Our programs offer snowboarding and skiing programs and the structure of the SOS curriculum, which include consistent adult mentors, community service opportunities, and life skill workshops. Through these opportunities, and the adult mentor relationships that are central to our programs, SOS accomplishes its mission of character building in underprivileged youth to enhance their decision-making for healthy and successful life experiences.
Available Positions and Location: 3 total (1 in each geographical area)
·Denver/Front Range, CO
·Summit County, CO
·Eagle County, CO
Description: The position will be split between on hill and office responsibilities.
On hill days will consist of coordinating youth groups from various youth agencies throughout Colorado. Your responsibilities may include:
·Provide resources for youth groups;
·Coordinate details with host resorts;
·Provide resorts with agency information;
·Collect social and demographic data from participants;
Office hours will be spent coordinating all program logistics:
·Hire and train of seasonal staff;
·Student registration;
·Maintain clothing and hardgoods inventory;
·Entry of program data into the online database;
·Assistance with marketing and special events
Job Requirements:
Ideal interns must present themselves professionally, have a strong work ethic and demonstrate excellent communication and motivational skills. Preference is given to applicants with experience working with disadvantaged youth and ski or snowboard experience. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
